CARING FOR SOMEONE WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITIES CAN COME WITH A LOT OF COMPLICATED ISSUES. THINGS THAT MOST OF US WOULD NEVER THINK ABOUT UNTIL IT COMES UP. THERE’S THINGS LIKE HOUSING, INDEPENDENT LIVING SUPPORT, MEDICAL NEEDS, SAFETY CONCERNS. WHO IS GOING TO HELP THEM MAKE GOOD CHOICES? WHO WILL HELP SET UP DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENTS OR MAKE SURE THEIR BILLS ARE PAID… WHAT ABOUT ALL THAT OTHER “STUFF”?

OUR LEADERSHIP TEAM HAS A COMBINED TOTAL OF MORE THAN 65 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE SPECIAL NEEDS FIELD.  WE COULD NOT POSSIBLY COUNT THE NUMBER OF TIMES SOMEONE HAS TEARFULLY ASKED, "WHAT DO WE DO NOW?"  ANYONE WHO CARES FOR SOMEONE WITH DISABILITIES KNOWS THAT PLANNING FOR THEIR FUTURE (OR SOMETIMES EVEN ORGANIZING THEIR PRESENT) CARE CAN BE SCARY, COMPLICATED, AND SOMETIMES OVERWHELMING.

WORRIED HEART, MEET SOUTHWIND FIELDS.
